One modest piece of fresh rug world news.
Netherhampton Salesrooms , Salisbury , U.K. is staging their Summer rug and carpet auction on July 12th.
So what you have to look forward to is approx. 345 lots of the usual menagerie of Netherhamton style items . However for some reason this sale struck me as in a way more interesting than the last few sale inventories Ms Barrett and staff have assembled . Maybe it is because we are in the midst of the summer doldrums and not much is turning up but at least a small handful of pieces in the group caught eye .
Three of which are posted below.
Lot # 328 , Eagle gul torba . Pre- sale estimate a very realistic £ 1-1;500.00 . Yes it is a late period example and a poor quality illustration. But that aside it appears to be in decent condition and these things are still relatively scarce .
Lot # 377 , Fachralo prayer rug . Pre-sale estimate £ 3-4,000.00 . Not rare at all but better than most Caucasian rugs that are included in a Netherhampton offering . If the piece is in good condition then pre- sale estimate is inline with the market value of similar examples.
Lot # 453 , Neriz tree carpet . Pre-sale estimate £ 4-600.00. A very fair starting point for a somewhat scarce item if the condition is decent .
All said and done the Netherhampton gang have assembled a prohibitively good group this time around , but times are sort of bumpy right now so lets just wait and see how things pan-out this coming Wednesday .
Again better than nothing !
