Austria Auction Co. is back in the game with a rug, carpet ,and flat weave sale scheduled on April 22 at their Vienna , Austria gallery .

Christie’s held their “Virata Coll.” sale today and as far as results go everything included in the sale found a new home. Concerning the 11 rugs in the inventory they all sold over their high pre-sale estimates , some well over. If your area of interest is Chinese rugs it’s well worth your time to view the sale results . This sale certainly confirms Chinese items including rugs are still a very active part of the antique market.
As for the lot I featured in the previous post it did very well for the estate .
Lot 637 , ” Goloubew” five medallion carpet , pre-sale estimate , $ 20-30,000.00 . Sold for $56,250.00 including comm. far excecding the pre- sale estimate , however not unexpected.
